Non-standard Higgs Signals and Physics at Shorter Distance
There is strong evidence that new phenomena are associated with
shorter distance scales than the ones probed so far. Beginning in
March, collider experiments at unprecedented high energies will
explore these phenomena for more than a decade. The first layer
of new physics that will be unraveled is expected to shed light on
the origin of electroweak symmetry breaking. From this
perspective, it is paramount to establish whether a Higgs boson
exists, and if so what are its properties. I will discuss the
leading candidates among theories with a Higgs boson, and show
that each of them allows for highly non-standard Higgs decays. The
study of these signals may point to marvelous phenomena beyond the
standard model, such as supersymmetry, strongly-coupled dynamics,
or extra spatial dimensions.
