Quintessence Versus Lambda for the CMB Anisotropy

It is shown how to write analytic formulae for the position of the CMB acoustic peaks. The sensitivity of the extracted cosmic parameters \Omega_M and \Omega_{\Lambda} to time-dependent dark energy density is analysed. It is shown that to achieve accuracy \pm 3\% on extracted values for these parameters, one must know whether the dark energy density is time-dependent.
