Plans for the Reactor Neutrino Experiment Double-CHOOZ
A new experiment at the Chooz reactor in France is being planned to
measure anti-neutrino disappearance which extends sensitivity to the
neutrino oscillation parameter theta-13. The best current limit on
theta-13 comes from the previous reactor neutrino experiment CHOOZ. The
new experiment, a collaboration of European and US physicists, will use
two 15 ton detectors to reduce most systematic errors. If fully
approved in 2005, it will reach the CHOOZ sensitivity by early 2008,
and sine-squared of twice theta < 0.03 by 2010.
