A couple of thoughts about the problem with 6S05. It could be a LUT
problem if the LUTs are getting loaded into the wrong cards, which would
be the case if the OFFSET parameter in LOADLUT.FOR is wrong. I know it
looks right and makes sense, but I've been burned by this type of thing
before. To check, you could generate very generous low-threshold LUTs
for the S face and try varying the OFFSET parameter.
If that doesn't help, you can make sure it is indeed the TP by swapping
the two S face cards. Other possibilities are the cables, and the S/H.
The S/H can be the source of the problem if the first channel on the
card doesn't respond to the R/S when it is polled for readout. The S/H
can appear completely normal otherwise, yet never get read out.
To fix the cards there, you would have to get out the schematics and
put the problem board on an extender. The schematics and most of the
spare parts you could need are there, but it can take time to figure out
what is wrong. The spare R/S can be used to create a test station if you
have a spare VME and CAMAC crate to use, but it will probably be easier
just to use the S face crates when uVAX3 is out of acquisition.
The best solution is to get more spare cards sent from IU, but Jim is
off flying a baloon for a few weeks. Perhaps someone else at IU can check
if there are any spare TP cards that could be shipped to GS?
