Dear MACRO GC-heads,

This is to let you all know that I have recently set up the MACRO
metamonitor to send email to the macro-erpgc mailing list whenever it
sends to the international alarm coincidence machine based on the
PERSEID condition.

You will get a message like this:

------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------
*** SENDING ALERT ***
Alarms in the coincidence:
System: 1
Level: 1
Signif: 1
Time: 180698 182648 678787000
------------------------------
Attaching to the international server
Sent message to international server successfully

------------------------------------------------------------

These messages will be quite rare (less often than once per month),
essentially all false alarms corresponding to the cases where there
was an alarm in one system but the other system was "dead" (i.e. no
ping message received within 300 secs for ERP, 1500 secs for PHRASE).

System: 1 for ERP, 2 for PHRASE (first to give alarm if
coincidence)
Level, significance: "dummy" values at the moment
Time: time of first event in burst, ddmmyy/hhmmss/ns format

You can check more detailed metamonitor output on
/disk_scrausa5/kate/metamon/metamon.out on camelot or other Unix
machines at LNGS. This will have details on how the PERSEID
condition was evaluated.

(More info: see vaxgs::disk$macro:[scholberg]perseid2.ps. This is a
slightly out of date document but has some info on the metamonitor.
Also see http://www-ussk.icrr.u-tokyo.ac.jp/~kate/snnet/snnet.html).

Ciao,

Kate.
