The advertized GC calibration for today is now complete. GC-like LED events
were generated in SM1/2, SM3/4, SM5/6 and finally on all 6 SMs. The LED
parameters (pulse height and widths) were kept the same in all tests. Below
you may find the log for each combination of SMs. Bursts limited within 2 SMs
had a total of 100+50 hits generated over 2+10 seconds. The burst over the
entire detector had 300+150 hits generated over 2+10 seconds.
At least 10 minutes of "silence" interval between SM configuration changes
was introduced. All times reported in the logs below are VSMAC3 times
which are 8min20sec behind respect to VXMACB clock.
On MACRO's main acquisition console GC alarms were received from PHRASE
only from SM1/2 and SM5/6.
At this point it will be useful to have some input from the GC working
group on what was detected from each of the systems on the above bursts
and understand if further tuning of the software is needed.
The relevant question now is how frequently we want to perform this
calibration. Given that the calibration events are pre-announced
and well separated, online monitors may be designed to flag such
bursts as calibration but still forward the alarm to the international
watch. Having this test once a month -- say the first maintenance day
of each month -- I feel will be a good starting point.
