*HOW DO I SEND A MESSAGE TO EVERYONE?*
To send a message to everyone simply send an e-mail to:
macro-general@cithe501.cithep.caltech.edu
Everyone on the distributions list will receive a copy. I suggest you
make a mail alias so you always get it right. Every mail message sent
will automatically be archived for easy access on the WWW site.
*HOW DO I RESPOND TO A MESSAGE?*
Just use your normal e-mail! If you reply your message will go the
person who mailed the message. Under ELM if you type "g"(for group
reply) the mailing list will be automatically CCed and everyone will
see the reply. Other mailers have their own ways of handling this, but
in general if you want the response to go back to the list you need to
put the address of the list in the TO: or CC: field.
*ARE THESE MESSAGES STORED ANYWHERE?*
Yes. Go to the MACRO USA WWW site at:
http://www.cithep.caltech.edu/macro/macro.html
and goto macro-general in the mailing list archives. The members of
the lists are also available.
*HEY IT SAYS I NEED A PASSWORD!*
Right. We wouldn't want everyone to know how much fun we have! When
your browser asks you for a user-id type in account name "macro", and
when it asks for the password put in the one we use in italy on
standard accounts. If you don't know it, ask one of your colleagues
in your building or call me on the phone. I won't send it by email
unless you can accept PGP encrypted email. You only will need to enter
this password once per session.
*GET ME ON/OFF THIS LIST!*
To be added or removed from the list you need to send email to me at:
walter@cithe501.cithep.caltech.edu
You don't need to be on the list to send email to it, so if you prefer
to only read the messages using the WWW I will take you off the list.
If I forgot someone remind me and I will put them on.
*ARE THERE OTHER LISTS?*
Right now there are:
macro-general
macro-rare
macro-wfd
coming soon:
macro-upmu
*WHAT HAPPENED TO THE OLD BB?*
It's gone. Please do not try to post to it. All the information you
need should now be on the WWW site.
Please send comments and questions to me:
