Hi all--

As of Friday, June 20 1997 and RUN 14180 the final stitches in MACRO's
WFD's plastic surgery are in place.

A new trigger (#11 called Lamosska) is in place throughout the whole
detector. This ultra-high ionizing particle trigger was needed in order
to save waveforms of slow (<10^-2c), highly ionizing particles that
are able to produce enough PMT afterpulsing to fill up the WFD memory.
The current threshold for trg#11 is 30-60 Imin but it will be soon raised
to its maximum allowable value. The present trigger rate for trg#11 is
1 event/hour*uVax.

Trigger #11 stops and reads the streamer tubes in the *same* fashion
as trigger #7 (TOHM) (trg11 is or'ed with trg7 betweem entering the
streamer tube 'teritories'). It also reads the entire supermodule
of WFD involved in the trigger.

As Chris O. already mentioned, we introduced a couple of WFD readout changes:
o streamer tubes (trg#9) now read the TOP face scintillator counters
(something that was left out last June) and
o TOHM boxes with 'activity' (=lower-threshold trigger) that are present
in a TOHM *trigger* also read the corresponding WFDs.
o cSPAM reads the WFDs Stop Master (EQUIP 40) although it doesn't read the
WFDs.

Beginning with RUN 14180 Sandro Marini increased the RUN size allocation by
~10% in order to bring up the duration of a typical MACRO run to ~5.5hrs.

Please look at the data and report to us any problems. As always, for
any questions or comments, don't hesitate to write.
