-----------
The shift began with a number of problems that lasted until Nov. 5.
0 Starting on Oct. 31, a few bad batteries caused the UPS Inoperable.
Five days after the problem started, LNGS people managed to make up one
full set of batteries from the best of the two sets. During these five
days, part of the scintillators were turned off so as not to risk all PMTs
in the event of power failures, and MACRO ran with partial detector.
0 Starting on the same day, Oct. 31, all event numbers were set to zero due
to a problem in the synchronization unit. On Monday Nov. 3, the
synchronization unit problem was traced to a blown fuse for 110V AC in the
NIM crate housing the unit.
