Subject: Update on PMT gain reset

Hi all,
This is an update on the progress of the MACRO PMT gain reset operation.
The operation started at noon Monday, Nov 8 and has just completed
SM5/6 yielding an approximate rate of 1.5 days per SM rather than
the 1 day per SM that was advertized. This 50% overhead was inevitable
so far. There were a number of things that contributed in this delay.
One of our analog "reference" scopes broke leaving only one available,
there was a power outage on Wednesday forcing complete turn off and then
back on of the apparatus (together with all the side effects, i.e., power
supply/fan unit failures), plus an extremely saturated network link
that slows down the pre-commissiong data check.
Anyways, there are four more SM to go (1 thru 4) and this will require
4-6 more days.
