The LAST Shift Report!!!! --M. Longo :( :(

This is presumably the last shift report for US
MACRO. I feel quite inadequate to the task of writing
it. I still have vivid memories of slogging through the
mud in the tunnel in the early days. It is sad to think
this is the last time I'll see it.

One consolation is that it is in very good hands with
Erik, Ioannis, Nicola, Massimo, and Roberto. They are
doing a great job of keeping the detector in good running
order while checking and processing the data.

As a result of their efforts, there is not much for a
shiftworker to do nowadays. Last Sunday night about 11 PM
the acquisition effectively stopped when a TOHM power
supply went crazy and the DAQ was swamped with bad data.
Unfortunately this happened not long after Erik and I
had logged out for the night, so that it was not corrected
until midmorning on Monday. A problem with 1B08 high
voltage was also fixed at that time. This was due to an
incorrectly updated PMT HV file.

   Some news mainly from Erik:

--On May 1st, the WFD system will be decommissioned. One
crate will be left on site in case some tests need to be
made later, but it will not be in acquisition. Let Erik
know if there are any special calibration runs that should
be taken before the WFDs are removed.
Without the WFD data, the data taking rate will be only
20% of the current rate with WFDs. Erik's preference is
to keep the length of the runs about the same (about 5 hrs).
If you have any preferences in this, let him know.

--Data reprocessing has reached run DD241 (80% of total MACRO
data volume).

--The blank DLTs have run out (again). Those that Erik brought
from CIT are used up. More will have to be procured.

--The calibration constants have been updated up to 19 April 2000.

--In the past week 3 counters have been investigated for problems.
Light leaks and a tube with gain too high were fixed.
