Ciao a tutti,
Today we performed a set of measurements on the Kinetic Systems Model
1502 CAMAC power supply in order to determine its specifications.
Here are the results:
The transformer used in these power supplies has (at least) one primary
winding (for 220Vrms) and 3 secondary.
(1) One providing power to the regulator card (low amps)
(2) One providing power to the +-12V & +-24V (they have shared power) lines
(3) One providing power to the +-6V lines.
Note that all these secondary windings are with "intermediate voltage", in
the sense that there are 3 wires available, as follows:
V(rms) Neutral V(rms) -> V(p1-n) = Vrms [AC]
| | | V(p2-n) = Vrms [AC}
| (p1) | (n) | (p2) V(p1-p2) = 2*Vrms [AC]
-------------------------------
The netural (n) cables from all 3 windings are tied together, creating
the power supply's "ground".
We performed 4 sets of measurements
(a) Trasformer alone
(b) Power supply fylly functional, but with NO load on the crate
(c) Half-load crate
(d) Full (or almost full) load
Here are the voltages, measured with the FLUKE DVM, always measured
between P-N in the above scheme, expressed in V(rms).
Before testing, we measuremed the mains (ENEL) voltage to be 227 V-AC (rms)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
| (a) (b) (c) (d) |
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
| - 1 - 34.6 34.6 34.1 33.6 |
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
| - 2 - 31.2 31.1 30.5 29.6 |
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
| - 3 - 11.5 11.5 11.3 11.1 |
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
According to the power supply specs, the maximum *OUTPUT* current that
can be provided by these power supplies is the following:
+24V : 6 amperes
-24V : 6 amperes
+12V : 3 amperes (regulator card has been modified to provide ~ 6Amp)
-12V : 3 amperes (regulator card has been modified to provide ~ 6Amp)
+ 6V : 52 amperes
- 6V : 52 amperes
*** We want ***
+-12V & +-24V: shared current is limited to 9 amperes -> 16Amps
+-6 V : shared current is limited to 52 amperes -> 52Amps
regulator : -> 1Amp
There is no info regarding the regulator card current; yet, the schematics
indicate that the current should not exceed 326mA (shared to 650mA), given
that they go through a 0.5Watt, 4.7 Ohm resistor.
