We have updated the 'work' CALMOD database with ERP constants
for the following reference run numbers:
16543, 16571, 16638, 16677
These should cover runs up to 16698, 16-NOV-1998.
LED/TDC and TRK (muon) data have been used to obtain constants
for reference runs 16543, 16571 and 16638, while only TRK (muon) data
have been used to obtain constants for reference run 16677.
***VERY IMPORTANT***
Runs between 16604 - 16632 have also been analyzed but they revealed
severe ADC and TDC problems for the entire SM4, and also interERP
values for SM3/SM4 and SM4/SM5 pairs.
This is due to a bad ERP S/H card for channels 4E08/09/10/11 that
result dead for this whole weak. As it happened in the past, this
broken module has seriously affected data integrity for the whole
ERP supervisor for SM4. Please, be *very* careful analyzing the
above mentioned runs.
We finally opted NOT to update CALMOD with the constants produced
for that week, so the constants from the previous reference run #
(16571) is used, instead.
***IMPORTANT***
Runs 16677 - 16698 seem to have some problems for SM3 data.
The corresponding timing calibrations for the entire SM3 resulted in ~50%
worse time jitter in the 1/beta distribution for SM3-only hits
(0.9nsecs instead of 0.6nsecs) and about twice the jitter for SM2/SM3
and SM3/SM4 interERP hits (1.5nsec instead of 0.75nsec).
Line fit between time-walk corrected TDC-L and TDC-H's also revealed
about twice as bad jitter (~0.5nsec instead of 0.25nsec).
Energy calibrations seem to be OK.
Trying to see which of the 21 runs used for this set may be responsible,
it seems to be coming from the first half (16677-16688).
***MUCH LESS IMPORTANT***
Another (minor) point has to do with the reference run # 16571, for
which the calibration code did not find any good interERP hits to
calibrate the South face counters, due to a broken interERP TDC channel.
As always, the constants for these boxes have been left untouched.
Please get the corresponding xxxxx.KUMAC file from
DISK$SCRAUSA4:[MACROCAL.KUMACS.WORK]
or the .DB (+ STEER) files from
DISK$MACRO:[MACROCAL.CALMOD.WORK.DB].
I remind you that the new code (explained in a previous mail/news-item)
has been used to process .TRK data and produce constants. For that
reason, any problems, comments, etc. should be IMMEDIATELY reported to the
calibration crew at Gran Sasso.
Interested people can find comments about these runs on:

We are at your disposal for questions, suggestions and comments.
