This resulting data is padded to 32 bits in software so that there are an even number of I*2 words. This is why there are a large number of unused bits above. e) There is space left between W14 and E08 because for face triggering the 18 bits in are divided into two patches of 9 bits. In addition, each pair of adjacent bits shares hardware, so the first bit chosen for the East attico is the 11th bit.
