New WFD DREAM Software

Dear MACRO Collaborators,

Since Aug 1, 1995 the new WFD data has officially been present
in MACRO data. However, because the WFD data was split into several
event records it has been difficult to analyze using DREAM.

Alec Habig and Ed Kearns have developed a package that works
with DREAM PASS=0 to recombine these split buffers. It currently runs
on MACRO raw data, and outputs MACRO ZEBRA data. It is our intention
to insert these routines into the MACRO copy procedure so that all
distributed and archived data will have combined WFD data. Please see
the memo at

http://rsgs02.lngs.infn.it/macro/papers/usashift/mol/vmol/wfdindream.html

for more details.

The code is now in its test phase at Gran Sasso. Currently
Erik Katsavounidis has batch jobs which automatically copy MACRO raw
data to:

DISK$SCRAUSA3:[MACRODATA]
DISK$SCRAUSA4:[MACRODATA]
DISK$SCRAUSA5:[MACRODATA]

The corresponding output from the WFD combining software is
written to:

DISK$SCRAUSA3:[MACRODATA.FZEX]
DISK$SCRAUSA4:[MACRODATA.FZEX]
DISK$SCRAUSA5:[MACRODATA.FZEX]

We recommend that everyone carefully read the above memo,
and if possible look at the combined data with their own software.
Please address concerns and questions to
macro-general@cithe502.cithep.caltech.edu so that they will be
automatically archived for easy reference to all collaborators.
