Hi all --

I have found and corrected a bug in GMACRO affecting South Face
streamer tubes. I don't believe the bug affects any published MACRO
analyses, merely because all of our work published to date ignores the
South Face. However, for any analysis that wants to consider the
South Face streamer tubes my bug fix is essential.

A few weeks ago, Sioli and Bakari posted a VAX News on VAXGS about a
bug they had found affecting the location of induced charge on
strips. The improvements introduced by this bug fix are subtle, but
could be significant.

Finally, I have uncovered the existence of another bug; but I have not
been able to find the bug in the program or to fix it. The evidence
of the bug is that the strips in the 2nd module of each supermodule
are less efficient than those in the 1st module. So I am issuing a
plea for anyone with knowledge of GMACRO to help find and fix this
bug.

I have incorporated all the facts and figures in a memo you can find
at

with the usual account and password.

Bob
