Hi all --
There is no need to read this now; but if I am in the tunnel and I ask
you to start a tape job for me, these are the instructions.
* Go to the computer room and lift the 10-pack of TA90s out of
AXPGS3$MKA400 (no need to push any buttons). If there is a tape
still in the drive (there probably will not be) push the unload
button to recover it.
* Take it to the tape room and return the 10 tapes to the shelves.
* Grab the 10 *previous* tapes (I am working backwards, so if the
10-pack originally contained M1970-M1979, you should grab M1960-
M1969).
* Load the 10 tapes into the 10-pack, smallest number in the highest
slot (near the handle), label towards the back wall, the side with
tape exposed.
* Back in the computer room, groove the 10-pack onto AXPGS3$MKA400.
Push the "Unload" button. The caddy will lower the 10-pack until
the first tape is in position, then eat the first tape.
* Now you can leave the computer room. At any terminal, log in as
MACROUSA and do the following:
$ set def disk$scrausa10:[ta90]
$ @ta90_2_disk
>>> Number of tapes to process {10} > [hit return, take default of 10]
>>> Name of first tape > M1960 [enter tape number of first (lowest) tape]
>>> Name of tape no. 2 {M1961} > [consecutive names are default; hit return]
>>> Name of tape no. 3 {M1962} >
>>> Name of tape no. 4 {M1963} >
>>> Name of tape no. 5 {M1964} >
>>> Name of tape no. 6 {M1965} >
>>> Name of tape no. 7 {M1966} >
>>> Name of tape no. 8 {M1967} >
>>> Name of tape no. 9 {M1968} >
>>> Name of tape no. 10 {M1969} >
*** Using tape drive AXPGS3$MKA400
>>> Destination directory {[.DDM01]} > [generally take default - hit return]
>>> Batch queue for tape spooling job {AXPGS3_FAST} > [hit return]
>>> Enter Job Name (for batch logs) {M1960} > [default is tape# - hit return]
That's it. You will see the SUBMIT command that submits the job to
the queue. Let me know the job is running, and I will take it from
there.
