Hi all,

Following discussions we've had on the oil filling date
of MACRO's counters, I've looked in the Gran Sasso areas
for an electronic log that I recall it existed. There still
exists this info in AXPGS0::DISK$MACRO:[MACROUSA.SCINT]
and has enough parts to reconstruct the filling date for the
counters, although this is not directly stated in the files
there.

I am cc:'ing this note to our macro-gs@budoe.bu.edu mailing
list so that it is archived there in case any future need
for similar information ever comes up.

There exist several versions of the same file that lists
the MACRO counters filled with oil at any given time. The
difference between two consecutive versions of this file
(SCINT.STAT) provides the counters that were actually filled
at that time. So, it is crucial that all file version are
kept at not purged!!

I have copied all files at Caltech's unix cluster. In order
to keep all information I attached to the filename its time
stamp so that a unique filename is created for files with
multiple versions. You can find all that in /users/kats/macro_scint/
and based on the following four files, filling date of the
counters can be retrieved:

scint_01-nov-1993.stat
scint_12-nov-1993.stat
scint_24-jul-1993.stat
scint_24-jan-1994.stat

Nicola and Roberto, could you please look around for the
hard logbook of the scintillator status around in Gran Sasso?
It was a typical brown colored logbook and it must be somewhere
in the counting house/electronics bench.

Thanks,
--Erik
