We all got it, and discussed it at lunch. Nobody knew anything.
I have examined the mail headers, and the origin was

        dialup.prakt.physik.tu-muenchen.de [129.187.77.41]

This is here at the Nu2002 meeting. The computers in the computer room
are of the form xxx.prakt.physik.tu-muenchen.de.

Thus, I conclude that it was a practical joke, and an ineffective
one because they did not use the right alert format with a PGP key.
