Data shift report (23-Aug-2000 to 25-Aug-2000)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
  by Nicola Zaccheo
  From run 19855 to 19864
 -------------------------------------------------------------------------

 I returned from my vacations on Wednesday, 23th of August.

 After the MACRO shut down occured the 4th of August, there were several
 problems with the apparatus, mostly already fixed.
 I found the following:

    - 5W03-0 started showing a signal with a low gain from run19796 (first
      good run after the black-out) and it was practically dead last
      Wednesday. After checking PMT HV base, HV cable and after trying
      to raise the HV value w/o effect on the PMT signal, I found that
      the signal RG58 cable was in a short circuit caused by the connector
      on the fanout side..After replacing this connector the 5W03-0 PMT
      signal appeared again (it is a good signal).

    - A lot of "fake" LED/CAL hits on the uVax3 SPU (7000-8000 hits).
      Last Wednesday I fixed this problem with a power ricycling of the
      corresponded NIM crate + LEMO connectors screwing.

    - There are some "fake" (20-30 per run) Stop Master latches on SM5@CENT.
      I think they are due to the box 5C02-0. In the data I found a number of
      events (compatible with the "fakes" number) in wich only 5C02 fires and
      with the following event decoding:

>triggers > 7:CIT_MONO
>eqp32(SP)w1> 3:TOHM5
>eqp32(SP)w2 >
>eqp32(SP)w3> 7:TOHM
      WFSTPSM5/F3A0 /TRGPAT> 1:CITm
      WFSTPSM5/F2A0:7/TRGTIM> 1(CITm): 0 2(ERPM):10016 3(STmn):10016
                              4(FMTm):10016
      WFSTPSM5/F2A0:7/TRGTIM> 5(SPAM):10016 6(LIPT):10016 7(xSTP):10016
                              8(HIPT):10016
      WFSTPSM5/F5A0 /CITPAT> 2:CENT 14:EMPT
      WFSTPSM5/F4A0:7/CITTIM> 1(CENT): 0 2(BOTT): 9760 3(WEST): 9760
                              4(EAST): 9760
      WFSTPSM5/F4A0:7/CITTIM> 5(NorS): 9760 6(TOP ): 9760 7(SM-1): 9760
                              8(SM+1): 9760
>eqp27(CIT-LOWtrg):
>eqp27(CIT-LOWact): 5C02

      There is no trigger but only activity for this tank(!!??!!). This is one
      of the cases that produce "fake" latches as Sophia pointed out some
      time ago.

      As I found in the last SM5 PMTs check, 5C02-0 has a bad signal.
      Furthermore, its TOHM lower LED is now stuck but its TOHM trigger rate
      is not so high (~3mHz).

    - 5B13 and 5B14 are dead on PHRASE/LIP because of a broken PHRASE module.
      The "pisani" told to Roberto to leave it as is.

     TRIGGER RATES:

            TOHM --> 4T13 ~4mHz, 5B13 ~6mHz, 5T16 ~5mHz
           ERP --> 3B07 ~5.2mHz
           LIP --> 1B12 ~0.4mHz, 1B14 ~0.7mHz, 1B16 ~0.2mHz(!), 1C08 ~1.1mHz,
                      1C11 ~1.2mHz, 2E10 ~15.5mHz, 3E04 ~7mHz, 5T02 ~0.4mHz,
                      6C09 ~1mHz, 6C10 ~1.1mHz, 6T12 ~11mHz
           ERP-GC --> 6W12 ~90mHz, 6S01 ~60mHz, 6S04 ~95mHz, 6S07 ~90mHz.
           PHRASE --> 5B04 ~30mHz, 6E12 ~25mHz

   FMT:

       No problems reported

   LAMOSSKA:

      There are still not justified LAMOSSKA triggers for LAM50. Sometimes
      also for LAM60 and LAM20.

    CSPAM/ERP efficiency:

      The boxes with systematic inefficiency: 3B07 (~52%), 3B11(~78%),
      3B12 (~70%), 5W03 (~58%) and 6T07(~76%).

    ERP/LIP efficiency:

      Low efficiency for 1B08, 1B09, 1B10, 1B12, 1B16, 1C08, 1C11, 1C15, 1T10,
      1T13, 1T16, 4C08, 5C11, 5C13, 5T02, 5T03, 6B07, 6B10, 6C09, 6C10 and 6T11.

    SPU: still hits on ERPI, ERPII, SPARE, LAS and LED on uVax1 (sometime 1/2
         VETO bits too). As mentioned before, the fake LED/CAL hits on uVax3
         SPU have been eliminated last wednesday.

    STOP MASTER:

      "Fake" latches on SM5@CENT (see previous comment).

   CALIBRATION:

     LED/TDC and LASER calibrations for full MACRO last Wednesday except
     LASER lower on uVax2 still broken (we had no time for full debugging).

    CALMOD:

      2 weeks (muon data only) analysed for ERP constants, ref. run 19790
      and 19819. I have not yet updated the CALMOD DB for the last week
      because there are problems on the uVax3. (Could this be due to
      the fact that for all these runs there are a lot of LED/CAL hits
      on uVax3 SPU??).I have to investigate better the next week..
