I am organizing a meeting of the Rare Particle Group for sometime in
October. This will help bridge the gap to our MACRO collaboration
meeting that begins November 28th. I would like to invite as many people
as possible to attend in person at Boston University. We can optionally
have a U.S. video conference for those who cannot attend, but I am
hoping to arrange something more substantial (read below).
I also would also like to suggest a parallel meeting in Italy on a
similar time frame. Perhaps we can arrange for a video-conference to
connect the meetings, but that is not a requirement. In any case, we
should be able to submit minutes and transparencies back and forth so
that the discussion is not entirely divided in two. Furthermore, it
would be good if some interested Italian collaborators could travel to
the U.S. meeting.
One of the reasons for in-person attendance is that I would like to
extend the meeting from the usual formal presentation of results and
discussion of papers. In particular, with the new WFD just recently
commissioned, I propose to spend extra time with other interested people
going over the latest results and work to be done on that system.
Consider it a mini-workshop on the topic of the new WFD and how we
will use it.
So: for starters I propose the date Friday 20-Oct-1995 for the
formal meeting of the Rare Particle Group. We can use the days before
and/or after for informal discussion and intensive work on WFD analysis.
I'll provide the workstations, you provide the keystrokes! If we do
well, there should even be time to enjoy the autumn colors.
Let me know: a) if you can attend the Friday meeting or would
require a different date
b) if you are interested in coming for a longer
period to work on WFD topics... which days are best?
c) proposed agenda items for discussion
d) talks you will give
Thanks,
Ed
